2007 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY - CHICAGO

2007 Chicago Event Press Release

Real Men Cook is the largest urban family celebration in the country. Not only does it celebrate real men who care for the family and community, it is a family food-tasting celebration beyond compare. Produced annually in ten different cities, it all started in Chicago with the first meeting in 1989 and the first event in 1990.

Leading women like WGN TV's Merri Dee, Fox TV's Robin Robinson, WYCC TV's Deborah Crable and more, came together with co-founder Yvette Moyo and agreed to each register 10 men to cook. Today, almost 1000 men donate their time and resources to cook and serve the public nationally, at the event recognized as the national Father's Day celebration. Media, from TIME magazine, to USA Today and USA Weekend to Southern Living, Ebony, Essence and Black Enterprise cover the event. Almost a quarter of a million dollars in TV news value is delivered for sponsors and over one hundred media impressions dispell the myth that there are no real men in urban families and communities.
Our nonprofit partners sell tickets and receive as much as 50% of the face value of tickets they sell This method, combined with donations has delivered over $1 million to nonprofit organizations.

Real Men Cook is presented by a variety of sponsors and Real Men Charities, Inc. is the presenting nonprofit.

Come on our and celebrate in Chicago. It's not just about food. We will feed your very soul:
